Participants from the Republic of Bashkortostan among the Storytellers’ Koroltay winners
On October 8-11 in Gorno-Altaysk there was a brace of special events on saving and developing Altay people’s cultural heritage. The events were delivered as live streaming.
In order to exchange experience and boost activities on preserving and popularization of throat singing and storytelling of Turkic peoples there was held a panel discussion, titled “Preservation and development of unique art of throat singing: challenges and opportunities”.
Active participation in the discussion was provided by local and foreign experts: scholars in the field of culture and folklore. Nafisa Tulybaeva, the deputy director general of the Republican Center of Folk Arts and the honored worker of culture of Bashkortostan explained Bashkir storytelling tradition.
Performers from 5 regions of Russia and 2 countries: Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan participated in the event.
Storytellers from the Republic of Bashkortostan were awarded in the following categories as well: Miras Uzyanbaev was awarded with a special prize for his “Artistic performance of the Bashkir epic”. Ildar Yunusov was honored as one of the winners in the category of “Recitative storytelling of epic”.
Organizers dedicated the events to the Year of Memory and Glory in the Russian Federation and to the 150th anniversary of the Altay artist and publicman Grigory Choros-Gurkin’s birth and the 95th anniversary of the folk storyteller Aleksey Kalkin’s birth.
