Yulai Galiullin Grand-Prix winner of the “Tamga”– I International Contest of Bashkir Ethnic Attire Craftsmen

The “Tamga” – I International Contest of Bashkir Ethnic Attire Craftsmen came to completion. The results were announced at the stage of the State Concert Hall “Bashkortostan” in the context of events on the occasion of the Day of the Bashkir Language in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The contest winner is Yulai Galiullin, the director of the Autonomous Non-commercial Organization “Mergen Uksy”. A money certificate for RUB 300 000 as the main prize was awarded to the winner by Amina Shafikova, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Yulai Galiullin presented his attire of the historical volost captain in the category of “Bashkir ethnic attire remodelling”. His nomad attire is a handwork of his, crafted according to the museum documents.

The first place in the category of the “Original modern costume” was awarded to Roza Yuldashbaeva (Ufa). The winner of the “Bashkir ethnic jewelry” category is Rustam Davletov (Ufa). Robert Khamidullin from Ufa was announced the winner in the category of “Bashkir ethnic attire remodelling”. Guldar Shabieva from Salavatsky district was celebrated as the best in the “Accessories of Bashkir traditional attire” category. All abovementioned were awarded money certificates for RUB 100 000.

The events included the defile of the final-participants as well.

The final round of the contest ran on December 13 in the stylized yurt outdoors at the “Toratau” Congress-Hall. Participants presented their handworks and answered the questions of the contest jury. The final of the event was attended by craftsmen and dress-designers from Ufa, Tuymazy, Salavatsky district, as well as from the regions of Russia: Chelyabinsky, Kurgansky regions, Moscow and abroad from Kazakhstan.

Creativity contest included 5 categories: “Bashkir ethnic attire remodelling”, “Original modern costume” “Children’s Attire”, “Bashkir ethnic jewelry” and “Accessories of Bashkir traditional attire”.

The contest was organized by the Ministry of culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Republican Center of Folk Arts, the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the International Union of Public Associations "World Kurultay (Congress) of Bashkirs".
