Lyra
Lyra is a typical greek traditional instrument. It is a pear-shaped, three-stringed bowed musical instrument. It is the local instrument of many regions of Greece, such as Crete, Dodekanisa islands, Aegean sea’s islands, Macedonia, Thrace and also Pontians use it. Same instrument used in many other countries. Lyra used in many traditional celebrations, rituals and accompanied with drum or Laouto. Lyra is known from ancient Greece, Vizantine period. There is also a constellation named Lyre. According to Greek mythology God Hermes created the first lyre by a large turtle’s shell, which was covered with animal skin from the flocks of God Apollo and antelope horns.
