The Republican Contest of Children’s Shezhere (genealogic tree) Pictures has been held in the context of the Republican Forum «Yirau agasy» (Family Tree) and the Republican Folk Festival «Schezhere bayramy» (The Festival of the Family Tree). The contest is held in order to preserve and save the identity of the peoples of Bashkortostan, so that they know and remember their roots and their culture.

The contest showed total 470 works designed in various drawing techniques.
«We were basically challenged with our choice. Every picture was riveting and required our special attention. We would like that participants not only know their Shezhere, but also be able to express their ideas through images. We hope further participants send us even more vivid pictures», says the project initiator, the Honored worker of culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan Gulgina Baymurzina.
According to the jury the laureates of the contest in their age categories became 8 young artists from different districts of the Republic. Also, special prize nominees were defined. The winners and the nominees will be invited to their awarding in September 2020.
Young artists aged 7 to 14 years from 34 districts and 7 cities of Bashkortostan and children from Saratovskaya Oblast participated in this contest.
The jury was represented by lead specialists on folklore by of the Republican Center of Folk Arts and the honored workers of culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Project organizers: the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Republican Center of Folk Arts.
