Recently the Ural Folk Art Gallery by the Republican Center of Folk Arts has hosted 2 workshops on decorative and applied art. On the first day there was a workshop on traditional Bashkir embroidery. It was held by the folk art expert at the Russian Academy of Science Elena Nechvolda and the artisan Alfiya Akhtarieva, as well as the head of the Ural Gallery Karima Kaydalova.
The workshop evoke great interest among community of Bashkortostan’s districts. Participants comprised 40 locals from Ishimbaysky, Karmaskalinsky, Davlekanovsky districts and from the cities Ufa and Kumertau. Workshop participants studied such key points as sewing in Bashkir decorative and applied art, semantics of Bashkir embroidery decoration, chain-stitch embroidery in decorative art of Bashkirs and rounded their lessons with a practical class on chain-stitching.
The second day showed the course on accelerated assembly in patchwork. The workshop was led by the winner of the All-Russia patchwork festival “Loskutnaya mozaika Rossii” (Rus.“Patchwork mosaic of Russia”), a member of the American Quilling Guild Zulfia Braylo.
In the course of work spectators got acquainted with the essence of accelerated assembly in patchwork, organizers introduced materials and tools for patchwork and shared some tips on cutting-out and tucking of textile. Having finished with the theory, participants started their practice under the guidance of the tutor.
By the end of the workshop participants were marked with attendance certificates.
